Tour de Wendland 2012

...normally I used to be here in the Wendland together with thousands of anti-nuclear-power spectators, sitting in car and having a circling blue light on the roof, but this time, I´ve been here without nuclear power, just with some Pirates. For this weekend I trained by riding a 35,7km TT the week before in Banzau for the City-Man: 1:00:7h average pulse of 183, 5th place overall and 3rd AG. I was satisfied, but there are no pictures existing.
On Friday was the Prolog with a 7km TT with a small hill of 14%, just warming up a little bit before. I was hot on this race, even riding TT is not my favourite.

Later I rode thru the Elb-valley, and a fight with a VW-Golf, the female driver, didn´t know that she was involved in a race, and that myself was a little bit faster than her. When I tried to pass her, she puseh her pedal a little bit more, took a curve, I had to break, it´s really funny hitting all your brakes with a spped of 40km/h, but I stayed on my bike and finally and she was gone. Sadly I lost some time, but who care´s it was just the prolog.

On Saturday was the race I like the much: long distance while it was raining. Ilove this kind of weather, somehow, I´m getting used to it.

Well, I had 4 really good rounds, until the last one, when one, lost his bottle, it rolled before my bike, I tried to avoid it, but than I hit it with my rear wheel, and what do you think, yes the leading group was gone. SHIT, I tried to close the gap again, one woman all alone in the wind, but later that round I found 4 more riders and we rode together the last rounds. After 6 rounds the race was over for the women. I had a time of 2:36h. The first women: Sarah, was in the leading group and now 10min ahead of me…

Well, finished and bushed…

In the evening weh ad to ride the criterion in Lüchow, 25rounds with 2km. Even the best Pirste, will get sea sick here. I had bad legs and Raini massaged them, did a good job. I still had to pack my stuff…

I was really excited of the upcoming TT…

Than the race started, and somehow all the men were trainees of Raini, or maybe they like to suck on women…???

That was really bold, but than when Raini told it to the guys, they were some kind of embarrassing and suddenl they were able to change places
:-)

Yes, here you can see number 106 before me. We used to fight together, even on the long distance tha day before. Thank you, it was a super team-work. He´s still able to laugh…

Than on the home straight, we had a fierce sprint under the Top3 women of the overall ranking, but it was worth it, even if I just took the 3rd, just 1sec behind Uta.

Am Sonntag war dann keiner mehr frisch .... netter Plausch mit Pisi an dessen Hinterrad ich auch stets viel Zeit verbracht hatte...

Than pain again, my legs felt like tree trunks, TT is not really made for long distance riders.

And again warming up, well at least I´m 3min ahead of the next women, to hold the 2nd place overall.

Here you can see the Top 3 leading women at the start of the 21km TT

Keep on fighting, again up and down thru the Elb-valley. I already got lots of lactate milk in my legs, but I kept on fighting, I was also able to pass Uta, but on the downhill passages she passed me again, but at the end, I was able to gain some seconds on her and finished on the 2nd place overall.

Finally we ate together and than went to the ceremony and here they are:

One for me: 2nd place overall and AG and the other for Silke 4th overall and 3rd AG.
Congratulations even to Sarah. I think your bulletin will follow soon. Special thanks as well to Sabrina fort he wonderful pictures and to Raini for his professional support.

Greetings Moni
