PIRATE undercover at the  Craft Bike Trans Germany

Last year my faithful sponsor SEBAMED told me, that he would offer me one of the coveted starting places at the Crat Bike Trans Germany, well, how could I say no??? So, I booked the accommodations for the team and the supporters ( Holger and Pirate Jan).
Than we travelled to Sonthofen at the 05.06.2012. We can recommend you the Pension Waldblick in Fischen.

The morning was the start while the weather was all grey but at least dry. While standing at the start. Pirate Ute and Nils talked to me, who didn´t recognized me, while I rode undercover, but when I told them I was Doro, they knew me. During the race, I met them again, sadly I wasn´t able to ride with them on the uphill part, both of them are really strong…

The first stage was 71,4km and 2759m of altitude. That means, that you had to ride all the time up or downhill. I had a bad feeling that I was soon passed by a snail, when I rode thru the forest with only 14km/h. Luckily all the others had the same problems or feeling, and I was able to ride up to my team mate Alex on the downhill part, who attended me for the last km´s until the finish. After the first day I was 31st of 71 women.

On the next day, we had to ride from Pfronten to Lermoos. The weather was allright, but I had some problems to find my rhythm. After all I finished 38th of all women, taht means 32nd overall. In between I was able to ride in the wind shadow of Ute and Nils and somehow I managed to absolve the 78km and 2250m of altitude. I was also nice during the race to see some cofidant faces like our supporters who gave us new drinking bottles. I drank lots more than on a 1day race, because you hadn´t have the time to recover the next day, just the evening. In the evening I took some time for a walk. I decided to walk to the pasta party, which was in a village nearby. Well, I earned and deserved the noodles and rice…

The next day I had to ride with arm warmers, because I got sunburn on the day before. So, it was quite warm on the ascents up to Tuftlalm or to the Ehrwalder alp. But after 30km the mountains were over and were followed by a constant up and down, this is what I like. Finally I was on the 40th place when I crossed the finish line and overall 36th. Well, my goal was to finish Top 35 and the woman in front of me, was 8min ahead of me. So, I decided to attack the very next day. Alex made my legs in the evening and when I open up my eyes and looked out of the window the next morning: rain.
At the starting line I managed to get a place under the umbrella of another rider. During the race doesn´t matter when you get wet, but before??? My legs felt really good, and I was in touch with Ute and Nils. Somehow the rain stopps and I took off my rain jacket and so, the both Pirates were out of sight again. Than 50km before the finish, also 28km later, it started to rain again, so I stopped, pull on my rain jacket again. I really like to ride thru the rain, even with the fact, when you don´t have to ride again the next day and you got time to dry up your clothes. Just on the last downhill part I freeze a little bit, but don´t care about it, the finish line was close by and when I crossed the finish line, I gave my bike to Jan and get dressed very warm and comfortable.

Finally a look on the results? On the day ranking I was 36th and overall 34th. I reached my goal. And gave the others behind me 12 in and the one behind 20min. If it´s possible, I want to participate here again next year.
