Vennlauf – 26.05.2012

26.05. Soccer or Vennlauf?  While we got wonderful temperatures around 23degrees, it was no longer question. And so I went to Mützenteich/ Eiffel, where I wanted to compete at a half-marathon with 260m of altitude. Altogether we were 867 starters, without the late registrations. I won´t be that bad…

Still amiling before the start at 17:15o´clock

The first 2km were uphill, than 1,5km downhill again on trails over roots, rocks and dried water ponds. I knew before, that it wasn´t the course for a new personal best time. Just take it easy. Km 4, straight and flat, a turn to the right, well, someone tries to pass me. No way…Now, almost head wind. I just remember myself of the run around the science lab of Jülich last year, where I was close DNF. Shake my head, to loose the thoughts. The guy who wanted to pass me, is now a sucker. I can do it faster, he as well??? I can be bad, if I want.A supply station at point 6km- WATER- I almost hit the table…
Km 11, now slowly but constant uphill. A mirage….water again. But no sponge for me. At km16 the ascents increases some more for 3km. It´s hot, I´m feling like a stone in a sauna oven. I just want to lay down. Torture yourself, you can sleep and rest, when you´re dead. Don´t slow down, accelerate.
Just 700m to the finish…downhill…last turn…

Thumbs up … I did it !!!

My reward: a Erdinger alcoholic free of course
result: 1:40:06h, AG 5th , overall 43th of 169. I´m satisfied. Wait a minute:
We had a 1st place for the Team Pirate, on the 5km run in the age-group M10,

He´s just at the beginning of his career. Even with stiches. Respect and congratulations for you…
