GCC Part 1 and Part 2 – between pleasure and frustration

This year I want to concentrate myself on MTB-races, but I also want to participate at some road bike races, and because of that I rode the Tour d`Energy in Göttingen, the course is right before my house. Sadly I had to start from the last starting block. But I just wanted to ride  for fun and to exercise a bit. After a few km I received a cramp in my legs and things didn´t  roll like they should. I just finished 11th in my AG. I was a bit frustrated of finishing in the mid field, because I knew, I can do better. In Göttingen was a small Pirate meeting. I met Marcel Ahrens who is able to do fantastic things with his trial bike. It was all fun, to be again in my former homeland, but I didn´t had the feeling of participating at a really good bike race. And I didn’t want to wait so long for the next race and so 3days later I started at the 2nd run of the German Cycling Cup in Frankfurt.Eschborn on the 1st of May. At the registration I remarked that there wasn´t that much participants and so I thought, it can´t be a better race than my last. But I was wrong. The race was over 70k and all flat and fast. That´s what I like, I had so much fun, riding that fast across the streets. Drafting of course and not to loose my group and to watch out, that I won´t crash. That wasn´t easy… At km40 I remarked that the rider in front me, became bumpy and I felt not save behind him anymore and changed my position. Another rider took my position and only moments later they both crashed and hit some of the others behind them as well. Lucky me…I was all shocked. Thoughts ran thru my head. The race went quite good for me, but the sprint on the home straight wasn´t the best form e, because the organizer didn´t sign right, even the leading car, didn´t know the way. Anyhow, I finished with a time of 1:55h and took the 4th place in my AG. Midfield? I knew, I can do better. But I didn´t care of the placement, I just knew, that I rode a really good race. Full throttle and in the front group…. I was the only pink Pirate at the German Cycling Cup, and I felt the jealous looks of the others because of my pink jersey.Well, I`m a member of the right team.
