Greetings from the most beautiful village...

The former Bike Trans Germany, is now called Bike Four Peaks. Not only the name has changed even the region in the Alps. Now we were riding from Ruhpolding for 4 days over a really ambitious course towards Neukirchen/ Großvenediger.

The Pirate mod in Ruhpolding was really good. After the starting signal we rode together with Moni and Andre, at this time, everything was still fine. But in the evening, the sun just kissed the horizon, my stomach said something to me, that I didn´t quite understand and I had to went to the toilet regularly, sorry. I didn´t want to ride with an ill stomach and I wasn´t able to push the pedals really hard and so for the first time Ute had to ride on her own during a race. She wasn´t able to ride that slow up the hill like I did, but at least e crossed the finish line together after the last stage.

Back in the most beautiful village at the Niederrhein, we thought about the 10 days left of our holidays. On top of our wish list stood the Zittertal Challenge, but it was cancelled by us on e week before the start because of the bad weather conditions and the low snow fall frontier.

In the first week of July we packed our van and drove towards Italy. Out goal the Dolomites. Nothing wrong about them, some MTB-knights in the land of the most beautiful mountains. You got lots of tours for the heavy and hard and of course for the easy way. And both of us wanted to train a little bit riding skills.

Our first day: Brixen, sounds nice the name, but we should have read the tiny stuff as well. It was a tough course and felt like riding a Trans Alp stage, with a constantly changing groun, but at least the scenery was brilliant and because of that, the tour didn´t felt that hard anymore.

After we solved Brixen, we decided to explore the stage villages of the last 5 years of the Bike Trans Alp.

St.Christina with the Seiser Plateau and the Plattkofel Hut.

La Villa with the Hospiz De la Crusc. Of course the visit of the church, even a have to for philistine, and you feel the special energy of this location. Than we went on the crossroad #15 and on the downhill section. It´s a 8km long and really wonderful trail and we were able to ride almost every meter of it, besides a few examples…

Sankt Vigil with its long and sweaty uphill part up to the peak of the
Kron Place. When you reached the peak and see the wonderful 360° scenery, you´re astonished, only the downhill part is better.

While weh ad good legs and a secure trail downhill feeling we rode on towards Toblach, another highlight of our trip. We did 120km and 4560m of altitude. Just from cairn to cairn, without a GPS. Former bike pro Roland Stauder gave us something else. His cairn trail brought us back to the roots, like back in the stone age. It´s just an easy package: you receive a card and a arm wrist band and than you can do everything on your own without any time limit on your way up the 5 highest mountains of this area. Than on the peak you receive a stamp, well, it´s obvisously a hole in your wrist band, that you reached and made it.

If you´re able to ride the Cairn-Trail in once at one day, you get a hand made with love built Stoneman in pure gold, if you need two days, you get one in silver and one in bronze if you need 3 days.

Pirate Four Peaks

We did it in two days and had lots of fun on the streets, roads, paths and trails, as well when we slept in the Silianer Hut and when we enjoyed the wonderful scenery of the region. The StoneMan is a fantastic mixture out of enjoying the nature and scenery and a get to know of your personal limits and for sure, we´ll come back.
At teh end we received at least a starting number at our bikes. Our goal the Salzkammer trophy. On race Saturday we wake up at 4o´clock in the morning by bike sounds. The starters with the red numbers made themselves ready for the start of the 120km and more than 7000m of altitude course in one day in race speed. Too much for us. We had a blue number and started at 9:00o´clock with 2476m of altitude over 76km, like a perfect end of our holidays. And it was like that. We rode the race together and Ute became 6th in her AG. We were all satisfied.
