12h from Todtnauberg

On August 25th, a home race was, once again, on the agenda, because I live about 5min from the track and have probably ridden it 1000 times. ;-)

I met my 3 comrades-in-arms for the Sandevents + Pirate Racing Team (Stefan, Andreas and Thomas) just a few days earlier on the internet and met them for the first time an hour before the race, which wasn't a problem.

At 8am, we started off on the 8.7m/14km circuit, which isn't very technically demanding, but drags on, especially after a few laps. Since the weather was perfect and riding in a team of 4 was pretty laid-back, the race was really fun. It was made even nicer by the free catering and massages.

Our lap times kept us steadily in 6th place, which means that we had absolved 18 laps by the end and remained in 6th, which made us all happy. We probably could have banged out 19, if Stefan hadn't gotten a flat, which took 10min to remedy. Anyway, we were all happy that we started in a team of 4, because we were wiped out afterwards. ;-)

The vibes were great again too, even though we didn't manage to break the starter record this year, despite the race being very well organized.

Sunny Greetings,

Jonas
