Hours of Motion

Cycling4Friends let 200 cyclists pedal for a good cause. A colorful field of over 200 bikers seemed to near from across the plain of the mountain track. Upon demand, we all rose from our saddles and pedaled up the steep incline standing. The lineup of the Tour de France seemed to have met early, on November 3, 2007 in Viernheim, to do a dry run of the leg to Alpe d'Huez.

But the first impression is deceiving. What looked like a synchronized fiel of cyclists, turned out to be a real army of indoor cycling and spinning friends that got together at the gym in Viernheim to pedal. 200 bikes were in motion for six hours overall, while listening to House and Trance music, for general mobility and a good cause.

The cycling event in Viernheim is the third of its kind that Cycling4Friends organized and conducted.
The two IndoorCycling-Master-Trainers and cyclists Sascha Kraemer and Frank Schildmann had met a year earlier and developed the idea for a series of indoor cycling events, called Cycling4Friends, together.

These cycling parties are sponsored by Tomahawk, IFAA, Powerbar, and, beginning November 3rd, PIRATE

The two presenters do not just introduce themselves personally at their events, they offer newcomers an hour of instruction and encouragement. In Viernheim, the newcomers and the Newcomer-Hour was sponsored by PIRATE.

After the six hour marathon, a large pasta feast awaited the cyclists, to refill the calorie reserves. So, the day ended somewhat like that of a Tour de France professional, who finally arrived in Alpe d'Huez.
