Captain Jörn's calculation is even better than Svenja's: thirty-four plus twelve equals five (34+12+10=5). The answer follows…

First, Sveny and Captain Klotz decided to run the long Wegberger series. We started off with 6.2m/10km at the beginning of December. Good conditions and fair legs led to Sveny's 3rd place in the women's division in 10:04 and a rather unspectacular 34th place for the Captain in 10:00min.

The Captain on the 3.1m/5km track - all alone, sniff… We continued on December 31st, 2007, for 9.3m/15km on the same 3.1m/5km track (3 laps). Our legs were doing well and motivation was at its peak. Sveny finished in 3rd again (60:24min) and the Captain came in 12th this time (56:39min). An good improvement from the last run! By the way, the woman in 1st finished 30sec before the Captain, it was none other than world championship and Olympic participant Oberem .

It was the first time that a Pirate beat Sveny to the finish line. Sweet, this supplies motivation and energy to reach new goals. Congratulations Steffi. At long last, the Captain was able to do really well in the final half-marathon at the end of January.
10th place and personal best by 2min (P-Weg 2006 standings). 1h19min53sec for the Captain and another 3rd place for Sveny in 1h26min04sec. .

By the way, the answer to the riddle is the placing at the events and the overall ranking in the entire series. 3+3+3= 2nd place for Sveny in the women's division and 34+12+10= 5th place for the Captain in the men's.

Finally, the award ceremony with four ladies! Great, the long series is over and done with and we hope to be doing more biking again. After all of our tempo training, I hope we'll have time for some basic training. Thanks to Georg for all the great pix.
