After last years intermission of the race in Wetter, they
gonna started all over again this year, with about 800 starters
on the marathon pace on saturday. On Sunday were the premier
league races.
The marathon race went over 50kīs with about 1370m of altitude,
their were almost just single-trails, I believe I never saw
that much single-trails in a race before. But you better donīt
underestiminate this race, because its constantly up and down.
I had the pleasure, that the race was just before my own house,
so I could afford to go there and back up again by bike.
The first look was up to the sky, because the weatherman said
something about upcoming thunderstorms around high noon. I
the beginning of the day the weather went really sticky, but
finally we had the luck on our side....
If their were heavy rains, the track would be very difficult
to ride on some parts. When I rode to Wetter, I took a look
to the left and right, and somehow I thought I lose my mind,
because I saw Mallorca-Paule on his bike, so we rode up together
the Harkortberg, where he stood a lifetime in the queue waiting
for his race number and supplies.
It wasnīt organized very well. So, and for us the race didnīt
went that good. Mallorca Paule wanted to call a cab right
in the middle of the race, but he hadnīt got any money, maybe
he just started to fast, and wanted to use the draft of Zimbo.
This time, Zimbo started as a P-racer(Plettenberg).
He also wanted to convince Paule, that they gotta go after
the race by bike home to Plettenberg again, about 50kīs.
By the way, Zimbo gotta have some kind of fan-club here, because
when you see the painting on the street going up to Volmarstein
it says(Go Zimbo GO).I suffered very much cause of a pain
in my neck, so I got almost the same thoughts as Paule, like
he told me later, but after all we made oiur way to the finish.
Weīll see us again in Nordenau at the latest, Hans Peter.
But things can only get better.
AT the end of the end, I was really lucky about being at home
again, after the 50km marathon and the 30kīs here and there.
On the ext day I took a look at the premier league races,
and were glad about that I donīt had to ride, at the end I
took a further look to the offspring.
After all I pushing thumbs for Zimbo and Mallorca Paule for
their single race starts at the 24hours race in Duisburg and
good luck to Chris for his 3rd Trans Alp race.
Curiously, we met us again at the push passage right after
the start, but I didnīt quite get it why there have been such
a big traffic jam. But allright, if someones gets off his
bike, and didnīt move to the side, than youīve your jam, at
which this jam retroacted back to the very first Uphill passage,
where ypu had to push your bike. At this place you surely
lost lots of time when you were in the back and not with the
first riders.
But weīll see us again in two weeks in Albstadt and see how
itīll works there
Ahoy Elvis
