At the beginning of the year 2006 the Pirates founded their
own Pirate-Triathlon-Team. This is short introduction....
Moin moin everyone, I'm Captain Klotz (Jörn), one of the founding
members and at this time still Boss J and contact person of
the Pirate-Triathlon-Team! One more thing up front, of course
"boss" of the team doesn't mean that I'm the best or the fastest
or anything!! Actually, I wanted to focus more on duathlon,
x-duathlon and a few runs that is to say relays this year! At
this point in time the water is not my favorite element, but
I'm hoping for improvement…! More info about the team, the other
team members and me can be found under TEAM -> Triathlon Team!
The enthusiasm for the triathlon grabbed me in Roth in 2003,
when I ran the long distance in a relay and we ended up being
the 2nd best mixed relay runners with two girls on the team!
Moin and hello, I'm Nina nd have been traveling under the sign
of the skull and crossbones for a few years on the MTB. Two
years ago I started doing the triathlon and since then the sport
has had a hold on me! Up until now I have been used to Olympic
distances and would like to attempt the middle distance… the
distant goal being the long distance, if everything goes well
and I stay healthy!
Moin moin, I'm Sveny and came to the triathlon because of running
and have been at the starting line since 1997. First, I stuck
with the "shorter" distances, but since 2004 you can find me
on the Ironwoman track. My personal highlight came in 2004 at
the Quelle Challenge in Roth and 2005 when I came in 5th overall
at the Bonn Marathon. My "main goals" for the next few years
are to improve on the marathon track and, if possible, manage
the Ironwoman in under 10:30. There's still a lot of work to
do!
G'day, I'm Rainer. I slaved away in the gym for over 20 years
and rode some MTB on the side. Then, about five years ago, I
started cycling (MTB) and running soon after that to fight stress.
After an operation on my knee, the sports mix turned into bike
racing and swimming. The road to the triathlon wasn't far anymore.
For this year I've planned my first middle distance, which would
be easier for me without the swimming… What's important to me
is that the whole thing stays fun
Hey, I'm Thomas. I've been riding my racing bike for 20 years
now, sometimes more sometimes less. The gym has been in the
mix for 13 years too, but it wasn't very beneficial for endurance.
112lbs/96kg on 6'/1,83m looks gigantic at the swimming pool,
but you can't win with it in a triathlon. In the meantime I'm
down to 183lbs/83kg and was pleasantly surprised by my first
triathlon season in 2005. In 2006 I'll try for the middle distance
and then build up to the long distance.
Little Mike came to Pirate as a pretty okay mountain biker,
but seeing the professionals twice at every race did begin to
annoy me. So I chose the hobby division and the fun returned
to biking. At some point I tested out a triathlon and I liked
it. So, I've stuck with it for the past five years. In 1993
Ron organized a mountain bike race in Trittau and I made it
to 4th place. The prize was a Pirate t-shirt, which is how the
whole mess began and since then my closet has been full of black
clothes and beginning a little while ago white, with small and
large skulls. Since 1995 I've been constantly antagonizing Ron
with more and more orders and I plan that to continue for a
few more years. I'm doing all right with the three new disciplines,
even though the bike is still my favorite. I'll certainly never
be a fish. Even though it is my zodiac sign. It's important
to enjoy oneself whatever one does and not to get too serious
about it, since not everybody needs to make a living of it.
I wish the best for the team and am looking forward to the 2006
season. Greetings, Mike
Hallo, I'm the tri-athlete from Munich. I started the sport
14 years ago, after I watched the Ironman in Roth. I almost
keeled right over and immediately wanted to imitate. No easier
said than done, kind of. 2 years later '94 I was standing at
the starting line. The '97 IM Lanzarote followed, the '00 IM
Roth and the '04 IM Zürich followed. My best time was in Roth
at 9h 47min. My favorite race was the World Championship in
Nizza and the Allgäu Middle Distance, both in '03. One of the
coolest triathlon competitions was the X-Terra in the Black
Forest at Lake Titti with a mountain bike track and a cross
run. My fastest marathon was in Munich, 2h49min. In the Munich
scene I'm known as the Pirate, because no one down here really
knows about it and I'm the only one wearing the gear for a long
time. In the meanwhile the skull and crossbones can be seen
around here more often. For the next year I've planned to participate
ina few short triathlons in the Munich area, but no big races.
I hope the team will be a lot of fun and very motivational for
all and maybe it can even get me to Hamburg for the City-Triathlon.
Servus from Munich, Daniel
