Martin's 1st retrospect of 2010: CherryMan Witzenhausen
Servus sports men!
Because I did not have the time to write bulletins all over the season, I´ll now start to report you weekly over my highlights of the season of 2010. I think I´ll start with the indigenous triathlon, the “ Cherry-Man” in Witzenhausen.
The “ Cherry-Man” ( Name, because this terrain is weel known for its cherry-trees) took part this year for the 11th time, and triathletes from all over the world participate here. You had to swim 400m, bike 22km and run 5km. The triathlon this year was at the 10th of july and it started with the contest briefing and some words from the mayor.

The first start was at 10:00o´clock, the temperatures were already at 25degrees so early in the morning, but because of the large amount of the athletes( 260), I had to wait for my start until 13:00o´clock and 30 degrees ( shadow), but than I was allowed to jump in the “cool” waters: With my new Pirate-Suit, I had to swim 8lanes in the pool of Witzenhausen.

Well, does it look like the perfect freestyle stroke???

After the short refreshment, I went on the bike-course, the first half you had to ride on the cycle path in direction of Hundelshausen, than turn around and rode back on the highway back to Witzenhausen.
Let me think about it, what I´m thought of here? Hungry? Thirsty? Or maybe the heat???

After the turn around point in Trubenhausen, you could push the pedal, but with careness, because you still had to run a well temperatured 5km run.

Finally we ran thru the old town of Witzenhausen, at this weekend was also a fun-fair in the city !?! It would be really nice there, with these temperatures….

After 1:12:13h I crossed the finish line and now I´m ready for the coming www.ostseeman.de , but before that, I like to relax with a bottle of cold water in the shadow.

I finished on the 29th place overall and the 8th in my age-group, I was really satisfied with these results and before I forget it, it was my 8th participation at the „ Cherry-Man-Triathlon“ so far. Having said this, a big thank you for all the helpful hands.

In honor
Martin Werner
