4.774 biker brave the elements of cold temperatures, two of them were the “ice-Pirates” Jan and myself!

The 13th. Black Forest ULTRA Bike Marathon at the 20th. of june 2010, happened on a typical Black Forest summer, OH...now I took some damage to the German Tourist Association of the Black Forest, sorry ´bout that. We had temperatures around 2,5 degrees( average is 6 degrees) and shower of sleets in the region of the Feldberg, all these things made this weekend unforgettable. On days like this I prefer the winter in South Africa instead of the summer in southern Germany ;-) The course for Jan and myself (77km and 2000m of altitude) was in many parts of the course because of the heavy rains a real challenge. Deep muddy floor and greazy glazed downhill parts, costs a lot of strength, power, energy and concentration. But somehow I had my fun that day, even I froze half tha course. One good thing that day was( greetings at this point to Jan) that I met Jan over and over again on the course, so we had a little bit of time to talk and of course to drink a beer afterwards together in the pub. Also some greetings to Doro, Jan is „really“ brave ;-) Because I wasn´t the only Pirate that day on the course, something came over me to make this risky and dangerous jump over this wide and deep dike… When you take a sharper look at the jump, you can see, that the jump is only possible if you´re highly concentrated, anf if you look more sharper you can see the awesome height of the jump. What a hell of a guy I´m... a real PIRAT without fear of something... Anything else to talk over??? Well…the time we reached wasn´t ehought to being placed on the podium and being kissed by one of the beautiful Black Forest girls, but even the back row will recieve their kiss in the black Forest...J Isn´t she gorgeous ??? ;-) There wasn´t more for me with a time of 5:19:09, full 10minutes slower than last year L But I didn´t loose my way of smiling…or maybe it got frozen that day with these temperatures…?
