I scheduled my arrival for friday and when I arrived, Kitzbühl
looked like and presenting itself like a town of horrow and terror:
cold and rainy! And b the Black sea, made itself his name credit:
deep and black! This is not the weather I like, but the weather
forecast told for Saturday a better weather. Well I was optimistic.
Quickly built up my tent and went directly to the contest meeting.

The bike, the run and bike shoes, as well like the helmet, suppose
to be on the evening before in the transition area.
The finish area and the home straight were already built up as
well like the blue carpet, not the red.
At the contest briefing, you also received a plate of pasta and
than you or better I went to bed. My alarm bell woke me up at
5:00o´clock – 3 hours before the start, and at 8:00o´clock, the
time came up and the rain stopped.
You had to swim 1500m in the 16,8degrees warm water just to run
quickly to the transition area and to your bike.
Now you had to ride a very ambitious course: 40km -> Fastly jump
on your bike after the red line and ride on...
Than the usual game started: as a good cyclists, I did the 5th
best bike split: 0:56:57 (5th)
( Jörg Jaksche rode the best bike split with a time of 0:52:03
(1st) ) all of the others tried to stay in my drafting zone, even
its forbidden.
Like the rules of the International Triathlon Union declare, you
had to leave a box of 7mx3m behind the front wheel of a participant
as a drafting-zone. The guys here, I lead for almost 5km cross
the valles and towardss the ascent.
JUDGES, where are you??? Here´s a job to do…
But, as longer the ascent became, I lost more´n more of my fellows
and after a few times getting out-of-the-saddle, I finally was
alone again…
After the hard and ambitious bike course, you had to run an ambitious
run course of 10km as well,a course, which gave you the rest you
needed to become totally exhausted, but with a running time of
37:31min, I´m really satisfied. Lucky and happily, I crossed the
finish line with a total time of 2:02:11h.
Overall placement: 19th. (of 350 Startern) and inmy age-group
the 2nd place!
