The days before race day brought us heavy rain falls and thunderstorms,
but the weather forecast told us, that we would have perfect weather
conditions on race day. After the swimming in the Neusiedler-Lake,
which I finished with a time of 24:38minutes, I thought “WOW”
to myself, not bad at all and grabbed my bike to start with the
90km bike course, here was my brand new PIRATE-TIME-TRIAL-HELMET”
a helpful hand.
We had a good wind on the flat course, after the first 45km round
of two I took a look at my tacho and remark, that I wasn´t the
slowest, and I were able to hold the speed during the 2nd round
and went after 2:13h back in the transition area, with an average
speed of 41km/h. “ man, man, man did I made something wrong, are
my legfs now tiredß” I thought to myself, but they wanted to go
on like this and couldn´t wait to get on the half-marathon. Than
I remarked that I was in front, for the time in this race and
that I´m in this position since the swimming. I didn´t think about
it earlier in the race, I just concentrated on my race and until
the first turn around point at km 5,2 everything went fine, Iwas
really surprised about it for myself, how good everything went.
And after 11km my amazement changed into reality with my legs
starting to hurt, but I wanted to bring this race home, for me,
for the victory, when I look on my watch, I still was under my
time schedule, and at km16 of the race I received, a so called
2nd breath” and were able to speed up again a little bit, I questioned
myself, why are doing this, there´s no one in sight, but the only
answer for this question is, because it´s really awesome feeling….
By the time I already knew that I was able to break the course
record, and this record I wanted to be mine, so I run like on
feathers, luckily and simply satisfied towards the finish line.
The race clock stopped at 4:03:15h, AWESOME, FANTASTIC… I wondered
about it, that I´m able to do all this with me just 20 years old
to run such a time…
Wait´n see, what´s going on in the next years...stay healthy for
your season finals and tack in...
