For lots of runners, the Santa Claus run is one of the most beautiful
running experiences and also a highlight at the end of the season.
So, did the „ Running Pirates of the Lausitz“, with an always
bigger grown crew of active leisure time runners in the last year.
At this years 11th annual run, you had to run around the lake,
but sadly, Harald Skopi, was the only Pirate participating, because
most of the others were injured and got some colds. And also,
some of them, already put their running shoes deep in the cupboard
because of the cold weather.
But…there´s no bad weather, just wrong clothes! Tradionally at
10:00o´clock, Santa Claus, started the run in Senftenberg for
the 17km course around the lake of Senftenberg.
At the same time was the start for the runners who just run half
of the distance, they started in Koschen for the 8,5km. Because
of the melting weather, frozen ground and temperatures around
3degrees, most of the course was icy or overflooded by melting
ice water. As well, they had drizzle and heavy winds, so you had
to run really carefully to arrive at the finish line healthy,
Healthy, this was as well the device for the Capt´n and of course
for all the others. At km point 8,5 and 13 you received some hot
tea and everybody drank it, to warm up innerly. One after each
other, the runners arrived at the finish line, Harald Skopi, too,
he finished with a time of 1:37:17 for the 17km, who drew closer
to the 4digit number of running km´s thru the year.
Even of the bad weather conditions, 119 runners between 9 and
77 particpated and finished the both runs.
