Pirate Mike as well like the Pirate rookie Maren were on the start
also some Pirate supporters.
 
Some words before to the conditions. Temperature of the channel
21,3degrees ( we started with no wet suit) and air temperature
30degrees as well like lots of sun. Actually ideal conditions
for Pirates, what Mike wanted to proove with his new tactic.
He amazed us with his backstroke style while swimming and so he
adducted all the attandance of the lifeguards, just to pass all
the men from his age-group from behind, this was his tactic, as
he said afterwards.
And he did quite a good job with it,he won his age-group 45, questions???
For tipps and hinds for his tactics just ask him. O-Ton.
Maren, the rookie gave a strong debut and came as the first Pirate
out of the waters, and that while doing breaststroke, because
someone hit her the goggles from her face. Respect.
She did quite a good job on the bike course and with 27minutes
for the running part she finished her first triathlon with the
4th place in her age-group (30).
 
I had a struggle with myself because of some exercise deficit,
because of my operation, so I swam in the water shadow of „ backstroke
” Mike and used the downhill prts on the bike course to re-gain
some loosing time. I reached the finish line on the 16th place
in my age-group (45). )
 
After all it was a successful triathlon weekend for the Pirates.
The BBQ afterwards at Mike and Karin and the ice cream, were well-deserved.
