Moinsen Pirates,

Last week, I took over the EBM in Seiffen/ Erzgebirge, on a Saturday afternoon with lots of sunshine, but with the constant look on the weather forecast, together with the mountain specialist of Berlin.

When we reached our destination, I got luck, there was a last starting place for the mountain sprint race, so I warmed up a bit. And with minute cycle, we went up the 500m long way and Simon Gegenheimer soon set a new best time and course record with a time of 58seconds. I started as the last one and was surprised, that 500m can be so long, but everything was really fast, so I forgot to shift, and because of this, I lost some valuable seconds.

I finished on the 22nd place with a time of 1:27minutes, and I think that was not bad after all.

Then on Sunday was raceday, and we started with a 9km long warm up lap, I got a really good sight and sticked behind the rear wheel of the Empower Brothers of Lübeck, who wanted to ride the 100km. Sadly, some of the guys in front, got too much adrenalin and soon the first kissed the slippery ground, of course all the riders behind and myself crashed with him, and after we fixed our bikes, saddles and bars again we began to chase the group in front of us. I soon catched the Weinknecht Brothers again and everything went better now, while we were I the forest, sadly the guys had to give up, because of freezing and a damage.

The course wasn´t very ambitious. The few downhill parts were all ridable, but lots of the guys crashed when they were at the Seiffener Grund. Funny, because normally it is my part to fell of my bike, with my technical defects… Anyhow I rode the downhill passages with a suicide speed. With the beginnig of the 3rd and last round, it started to rain, and soon you wasn´t able to recognize the course again.

I entered the 3rd round together with two Czech guys and Christoph Neutzner from the Team of Bad Salzdetfurth and changed constantly with the lead, but than in the middle of the round, I pushed the throttle on a ascent and soon gained some meters between me and the others. At this time the rain was bearable because it was not that cold and even the ground was just ridable, but on my clothes were at least 2kg of mud.

Luckily the ground of Seiffen, must have some soap inside it, when ist wet, so I got only few problems with my shifter and no further problems and so after 5:33h I reached the finish.

Sadly, Thomas Nicke rode his last race today, I used to exercise with him a lot in the last weeks while we had pouring rain, and sadly again, that he even wasn´t mentioned with lots of plaudit from the organizers, even he finished on the 3rd place, but he didn´t show up honoray for the winner ceremony, while the guy on the 2nd place was very famous in the past for the visits of a spanish doctor and not for his attendance on the course. Dano explained it very good in one of his cablegram:

Sadly, that not very much got to knew this. How ever, it was a great race, even with the large amount of mud, it made lots of fun. And in the next weeks I´ll take a look with Thomas at the Mountains of Zittau and I pray, that he will have tired legs…;-)

After that, The “ P-Way” is on my schedule as well like the “ Holy Wild Boar” in Grunewald and the king of the loipe at the Teufelsberg. So, keep your thumbs pressed.
So, lots of greeting from the big B.

Jost
