Intern. Super Marathon in the Sauerland

The SKS-Marathon of the Sauerland was my destination in the shire at the 20th of august 2011. I started at home at 5:30 in the morning, my sons told, next time they would join me again, when the starting time is not right in the middle of the night.

So, the old mule travelled on his own, it was the the best cycling weather. At 9:00o´clock, we already got 15degrees  and no clouds at the skyy. The course was still a little bit muddy from the rain the day before, but not that bad.

When I played squash during the week, I ached my back a little bit, and so I wasn´t able to walk very good, but I wanted to ride my MTB and not to push it. During the race, you can choose between riding the 59km or 109km, but you got to be on time at the finish line after 59km, to ride the longer course.

I reached the finish after 3h, and haven´t wasted so much power and endurance and my back didn´t hurt as well, so I decided to go on and after 6h I reached the finish again and ened up on the 11th place in my age-group.

Slowly I´m getting better…

See you soon,

André Döring
