We hoisted our colors a little bit higher!

Where you ask?? At the “ Dreiländergiro” in Nauders at the 26th of june 2011 The Dreiländergiro of 2011 in Nauders is over now and it was a complete succedd for the Pirates, but this time it was not only me, it was my Pirate bride, we tried her to end up on a good place with a good time. Successful, it was her first bike-marathin in the Alps and of course her first Alp passes since she started to ride road bike, only 1 ½ years ago, But we trained very hard and intensive for that it was possible for her. Myself also trained really hard with my bride and successful. Early in the morning at 6:30o´clock was the start for the 168km with more than 3000m of altitude. Sadlyour starting position wasn´t the best, it was far behind and the time starting tocount, when the signal came and not when we passed the starting line. Ditzy… We were 4 guys and oiur girl and we pushed the pedas really hard until the Stilversjoch, when we reached it, one of the Pirates said good bye and went on, because he wanted to end up with a good time for the Pirates, and he did, he ended up with a time under 7hours. Congratulations. Now only 4 we rode to the finish in Nauders. Pirate Silke in between the Pirate-boys, it was a hard thing, but the weather was almost the best you can wish for, at the Stilversjoch it was chilly, but a good thing after the long and hard ascent, we rode up to 2700m, and after it, the really hard Ofen-peak came, where the sun had at least 30degrees, everything went good, we did not rode too fast and were watchful. Our support within our team was the best, we supplied and motivated Silke all the time. And after the Ofen-peak, things went on., this was our course, we trained on and for. No other groups just us and a few “suckers” in our slipstream, we rode with full steam to the last ascent with 6km and 400m of altitude, by riding downhill, we never been under 40km/h, and after 7:44h we reached the finish on the 29th place in our age-group of 70. It was really awesome and made lots of fun and Silke our Pirate girl were really lucky. We showed and proved that we care for each other and that we don´t have to hide. Oh no, we can proudly present us, and we did it. On coming sunday we´ll participate at the Höllgrund-bike-marathin in Schwetzingen, we´re looking forward to it, and again…we´ll hoist our colors… And chain mostright… Greetings, Marcus
