"30th road run“ around the cross of Bayer“

Moin Moin Piratas, while we had perfect running conditions in Leverkusen and a real fast pack of starters and also two new records at the road run “ around the cross of Bayer. Sabrina Mockenhaupt won the womens race with a time of 32:22min for the 10km, a new record. At the mens race, the africans dominated the race, and so it came to an expected fast race. At the end Pius Maiyo Kirop won the mens race over 10km with a new record time of 28:16min ( awesome). Because I wante to compete at the half marathon in Duisburg on the 26th of march, I thought it would be a nice idea to testify my shape, two weeks because the big showdown. So, I went on sunday morning to Leverkusen to run the 10k in the half marathon speed. This run is well known in the Ruhrgebiet and all around in the schedule of the pre-season, because, there were several starters with a longer arrival distance. The course is a round course with each lap 2,4 km long and real fast on the area of the Bayer pharmacy company. You ran on bike ways and all with bitumen and some narrows streets, only 2 small bumps seemed to be some kind of disturbing factor, for faster times. But I didn´t wanted to run a new personnal best, I just wanted to ckeck my shape -  so I started the race with my half marathon speed, about 42min for the 10k. But….the wonderful weather( 15C ) an d the good conditions of the course seduced me to run a little bit faster than I wanted to run, so I finished with a time of 40:46min. Doesn´t matter, it made fun and so, I can´t wait for the half marathon to come..   See you soon Tom (from TriTeam)
