ELE-Triathlon in Gladbeck - bronchitis, gastritis, mathematitis or the journey to Jerusalem

The 15th of may, was the beginning of the triathlon season for the Pirate Crew Rhein Ruhr, well it was planned like that. 5 were registered, 4 only showed up to receive the starting package, 3 entered the waters and only 2 finished. Reiner Kowalzik cancelled the race because of a brochitis already before, than Maren Pfeifers wasn´t able to on race day because of a gastritis, but she was hopefully until the start, that she was able to, but… no way…  Well, so it was on our shoulders to prevent the Pirate honor( Marco Schroeder, Stephan Wimmer and myself). I started in the first starting group and after 9:34min I came on the 3rd place out of the water.. In the 2nd start group were Marco and Stephan, Marco needed 10:04min and Stephan entered after 11:04min the transition area. While Reiner, Maren and our mascot Benny had a comfortable place at the bike course, I just needed 39:19min for the 22km long bike course, Marco needed 44:29min and Stephan, yes,well Stephan, he was reached by the mathematics, he rode the best time on the course, but with one round less, that´s all…now shower time for him. On the last 5km run, was a fierce fight against the clock, and when Marco and myself reached the finidsh we were all satisfied and exhausted.   45.
