Kyffhäuser mountain race MTB marathon race at the 09th of april 2011

At the 9th of april, it was time for me for my first race in 2011, so I travelled to Bad Frankenhausen(Thuringia), where I lived in younger days. It was a little bit cold on race day, but the weather forecast, promised better weather. The course was 42,195km long and got about 600m of altitude, which I choose this year, it was hard, technical and got some fast downhill passages. I just wanted to finishe, because in the beginning month of the year, I was often ill, and I wasn´t able to exercise at all. Until point 34km of the race, everything went good, but than I had a flat tyre, so, off the bike getting the tyre fixed and back on, but I lost lots of valuable minutes, next time it will be a faster change of tyres…   After 2:32h I crossed the finish line, I finished 87th in my age-group, not my best result, but this was the best I could do, but afterall a nice race, and next year I´ll participate again. So, I wish you all the best and always some air left in your tyres...   Marcel
