Chasing bunnies – 27th. City Run of the Sparkasse of Düren (15.01.2012)

After my bad injury at the marathon in Frankfurt, I cancelled every contest in the following 6 weeks, and the City Run of Düren should be my first contest after the break, and maybe an improvement of my 6month old personnal best time...Another chance was theat, Team Pirate now got a track and field section, I waite for this to come for so long and so, my run, should be my first run , as a Pirate Robert wasn´t in a really good after all, and so I seized my chance...and so...plan of action was ready. An ATTACK on my personnal best time and Robert should be my bunny and Bernd as well, so we were three already, and soon Dietmar joined us...Dietmar just asked about the target time ( Yes, it is the time you ran this morning as a slow relaxed run on 20km). But first of all, it was time for the tiny Pirates: First of all, the Bambini-Run: Than the run fort he pupils: 4th place in yout age-group at the pupils-run: Congratulations... Warming up...thank godness: policeman are some kind ofmerciless. So, I had to park my car somewhere else, whew, if there´s enough time for me until the start??? Near by the starting line was a supermarket, fastly getting inside, searching for the restrooms...Damn it...closed, where to go right now? But still some time for a picture...   Than it was time, is the time still allright? Isn´t to fast? Can I stand it? Bamm, after I 400m I hit something, sprained my foot, but went back on pace soon. Going on, find my pace and go... At the end of the second round, someone is holding me a cup right before my face. What an asshole...Oh, it´s Bernd....thank you... After the third round, we slowed down a bit... … Keeping solutions…last very long, at this time for 300m…. But, anyhow, maybe in the next round. Than we told Dietmar to go and off he goes…Bernd and Robert still are my brakes…take it easy, yes, that´s right. Slow down, still two rounds to go, it´s really nice being drafted by both of them. Racing line? It´s here, where your dad is running… „ Everything is allright“ they ask…if I would tell them the truth, of course, everythings fine. Lasr round, normally the last round hurts, so, picking up the pace again,  now it´s Bernd´s part. Everythings fine, slowing down at the ascents again,  no, not getting faster...adn than...GO...Something got me on the meters...I know, there are still energies left...jam in front of the finish line, holding my arm on the machine, take a look at my watch: 44:23min. The official time later is 44:25min. That means, I reached my new personnal best time. Thank you guys for your help...and somehow, we´re still looking good, or not??? Of course only the three on the right and side...and girls...thank you for your support... ;-)   Here: the promised reward...: Dirk Kunze
